"I am a mother and a yoga teacher but above all else I am a woman who is passionate about supporting women through pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
It was through my own pregnancy that I discovered the challenges that women face during this time and the many fears and misconceptions that surround birth.
It was this experience that spurred me on to become a Pre- and Post-natal Yoga specialist teacher. I wanted to be a positive part of women's journeys into motherhood and help educate and prepare them for a fulfilling and empowered birth.

I began practicing yoga in 1997, at the age of 18. I was initially drawn to yoga for purely physical reasons. However, as my life unfolded and I began working and travelling, I found myself seeking out yoga classes wherever I went. There was something there, beyond the physical, that kept drawing me back time and time again.
After several years spent travelling, including 3 months in India in 2004, I settled into a career, only to find myself disillusioned with working in the corporate world.
In 2007, I travelled to Tibet. My experiences there, in India and elsewhere in the world, as well as my love of yoga, set me on the path towards change. In 2009, inspired by my yoga teacher at that time, I left my career behind and dedicated myself fully to the path of yoga.
The next two years were spent immersing myself in the Yoga Teacher Training Program at The Yoga Space in West Perth. It was during this time that I also fell pregnant.
As I began my journey into motherhood, I discovered that for many women pregnancy and childbirth are not always the joyous experiences we believe them to be. In fact, often they are filled with fear, confusion, pain, stress and anxiety. These, combined with physical and hormonal changes, can leave women physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted.
Yoga provided me with the strength and clarity I needed to face the challenges on the road through pregnancy, and I wanted to share what I had learnt and what yoga has to offer, with other mothers-to-be. As a result, in addition to completing the Yoga Teacher Training Program, I undertook specialist training in Pre- and Post-natal Yoga. I also assisted Dr Jean Byrne (co-owner of The Yoga Space) in research into the benefits of Mindfulness Based Childbirth Education - an 8 week program which looks at women's feelings and attitudes towards their pregnancy and expected childbirth experience before and after completing mindfulness education.
I am now a certified and registered Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, mother to my gorgeous daughter and step-mother to two other amazing children. What I couldn't learn in a yoga class, they have taught me through experience. It is this experience, and the shared experiences of my friends, family and other women I have taught, that I bring with me to the mat every class.
